Perla Beltran, Miss World's 1st runner-up from Mexico is the winner of GB's Miss Grand Slam 2009

Miss Grand Slam 2009!

Perla Beltran, Miss World's 1st runner-up from Mexico, is the winner of GB's Miss Grand Slam 2009 contest. She left behind nearly 500 beauties who competed in the 5 Grand Slam contests last year. It's Mexico's first Miss Grand Slam title. Congratulations!!

In Miss Grand Slam 2009, however, Perla was 1st from the beginning to the end, winning all rounds of the competition, and now Mexico has the most stunning beauty of 2009!

TOP 5 MISS GRAND SLAM 2009 - Who will be the winner and the newly crowned Miss Grand Slam 2009?

The amazing 5 of 2009: Larissa Ramos (Brazil Earth), Vivian Noronha Cia (Brazil Tourism Queen), Aida Aime (Dominican Republic Universe), Chloe Mortaud (France Universe / World) and Perla Beltran (Mexico World)

The Amazing 5 of 2009

This was probably the toughest job our judges had so far, but they managed to select 5 finalists for Miss Grand Slam 2009, the amazing 5 of 2009! And they are…

One Grand Slam winner, three 1st runner-ups and 1 finalist / semi-finalist. It shows that beauty experts from around the world definetely did not agree with judges’ choices in most Grand Slam pageants last year. The runner-ups of Miss Universe, Miss Tourism Queen and Miss World took the front line in the opinion of those who love and have been following beauty pageants for a long time. Let’s learn a bit more about our top 5…

Larissa Ramos, Brazil Earth – When she was crowned Miss Brazil Earth in 2008, very few of her countrymen believed Larissa would go far in Miss Earth. However, with excellent runway skills and plenty of charisma, she took it all in the Philippines, becoming Brazil’s second Miss Earth!

Vivian Noronha Cia, Brazil Tourism Queen – The favorite among contestants, journalists and foreign judges in China, Brazil’s Vivian Noronha Cia was defeated by Miss Russia, the Chinese judges’ odd choice. Vivian competed in Miss World Brazil 2006 and 2008 (when she placed 2nd to Tamara Almeida) and in Miss Brazil Universe 2007 (she was 2nd runner-up to Natalia Guimarães).

Ada Aime, Dominican Republic Universe – Thousands of fans from around the globe felt depressed to see Dominican beauty Ada Aime losing the Miss Universe title to Miss Venezuela. When Ada participated in Miss World 2007 (she was also a favorite but was ‘just’ a semi-finalist) she was 2nd in Miss Grand Slam. Will she now take a step up??

Chloe Mortaud, France Universe / World – GB’s favorite to win the Miss Universe crown last year, Chloe finished in the 6th position in the Bahamas (she was a semi-finalist). Competing in Miss World, she was a finalist and ended in an honorable 4th place (after a confusing final answer). This French beauty certainly has many fans spread throughout the globe…

Perla Beltran, Mexico World – Perla had one year to prepare for Miss World after she was crowned Nuestra Belleza Mexico World 2009. Sinonymous of beauty, elegance and class, this Mexican stunner was expected to become Mexico’s first Miss World, but she lost to surprising Miss Gibraltar.

One of them will be chosen as Miss Grand Slam 2009. And who are the people in charge of this important choice? In addition to GB’s crew members, our special guest judges are:

- Philip Jai Johnson (Canada)
- Luciano Calcopietro (Brazil)
- Nick C (Turkey / New Zealand)
- Joseph Vitug (Philippines)
- Alvaro Favela (Mexico)
- Paul Palmero (Philippines)
- Jean-Marie Vandecasteele (Belgium)
- James (Hong Kong)
- Donald Nguyen (Vietnam)

And as we wait for our judges’ final decision, we can announce two more continental winners: Miss Australia Universe is Miss Grand Slam Oceania 2009, and Miss Vietnam World is Miss Grand Slam Asia 2009. Congratulations to both!

Soon we will meet Miss Grand Slam 2009!! Good luck to all 5!!

Miss Grand Slam 2009 - GB’s Top 10 Most Beautiful Women in the World 2009)

GB’s Top 10 Stunners of 2009

1st row: Australia U, Barbados W, Brazil E, Brazil TQ, Dominican Republic U;

2nd row: France U/W, French Polynesia TQ, Mexico W, Philippines E, Vietnam W.

And then there were 10… 10 out of more than 400 Grand Slam beauties! These amazing women are still fighting to be recognized as the best among the best.

Miss World has 4 top 10 finalists, Miss Universe has 3, Miss Tourism Queen and Miss Earth have 2 each, and Miss International has none.

5 of them come from the Americas, 2 from Oceania, 2 from Asia and just 1 from Europe. Africa is out of the competition.

Miss France U/W is Miss Grand Slam Europe 2009, and Miss Guine TQ is Miss Grand Slam Africa 2009. America, Oceania and Asia will have to wait to meet their queens.

The only Grand Slam delegate from 2009 still competing is Miss Earth (Brazil’s Larissa Ramos). All others are gone…

One of our 10 stunners is a non-finalist: Miss Barbados W, who was named Sexiest Woman Alive by Global Beauties.

Our judges will now choose the 5 super finalists of 2009!

Miss Grand Slam 2009 - GB's 20 Most Beautiful Women in the World in 2009

Top 20

1st row: Australia U, Barbados W, Belgium U/W, Brazil E, Brazil TQ, Czech Republic U, Dominican Republic U, France U/W, French Polynesia TQ, Guinea TQ;

2nd row: Kosovo U, Martinique E, Mexico I, Mexico W, Netherlands U/W, Panama W, Philippines E, Sierra Leone W, South Africa U/W, Vietnam W.

* Another Grand Slam winner has left the competition: Miss World Kaiane Aldorino, from Gibraltar (33rd place). If we think that last year Miss Universe and Miss World fought for the title of Miss Grand Slam until the very last vote…

* Powerhouse Venezuela was the “Country of the Year” based on performance, but pageant experts don’t seem to agree with last year’s judges: none of them made it to the ‘top 20′. Other countries with tradition in beauty pageants, such as the United States, Colombia, Puerto Rico and India, are all out of the game at an early stage of the competition as well;

* Miss World is the pageant with most contestants in the top 20: 9. It is followed by Miss Universe, with 8, Miss Tourism Queen and Miss Earth, with 3 each, and Miss International with 1;

* America still has the most competitors among those who advanced: 8 (40%). Europe comes next with 5 (25%), followed by Africa with 3 (15%), and Oceania and Asia with 2 each (10% each);

The next challenge for our judges is to select the Top 10!

Congratulations to the Top 20 Beauties of 2009!!

Miss Grand Slam 2009 - GB's 50 Most Beautiful Women in the World in 2009

GB’s 50 Most Beautiful Women in the World

Since 2001 Global Beauties publishes the list of “The 50 Most Beautiful Women in the World”, who are the 50 Grand Slam candidates best ranked in the election of Miss Grand Slam (formerly known as Best Overall Category of the GB Awards). Our judges have voted, and here they are, The 50 Most Beautiful Women in the World:

1st row: Altai Republic TQ, Australia U, Barbados W, Belgium U/W, Brazil E, Brazil I, Brazil TQ, Brazil W, Cuba E, Czech Republic U;

2nd row: Dominican Republic U, Dominican Republic W, France U/W, French Polynesia TQ, Gibraltar W, Guinea TQ, Honduras U, Iceland U, India I, Kazakhstan W;

3rd row: Kosovo U, Kyrgyzstan TQ, Martinique W, Mexico I, Mexico U, Mexico W, Netherlands U/W, Panama I, Panama W, Paraguay E;

4th row: Philippines E, Philippines I, Poland E, Poland TQ, Puerto Rico U, Puerto Rico W, Russia I, Russia U, Sierra Leone W, Slovakia I;

5th row: South Africa U/W, Spain E, Spain I, Spain U, Sweden U, Thailand E, Turkmenistan TQ, Venezuela E, Venezuela I, Vietnam W.

Congratulations to the TOP 50 beauties on the globe!

Let’s go over some interesting facts about our 10th list of the most stunning beauties in the universe:

* In GB Top 50 list’s 10th anniversary, for the first time ever a woman elected Miss Universe is not found in the list. Stefania Fernandes ranked 52nd is is out of the dispute;

* Miss Universe is not the only Grand Slam winner eliminated on this early stage of the competition: Russia’s Ekaterina Grushanina, the controversial winner of Miss Tourism Queen International 2009, ranked 66th;

* After two tragic years for Miss Earth winners (in 2007 and 2008 Miss Earth winners ranked in the bottom 10, with Carla Henry of the Philippines in a shameful 97th last year), a winner from the Manila-based pageant returns to the ‘top 50′: Larissa Ramos of Brazil is one of the 50 most beautiful;

* If the winner of Miss Tourism Queen is out of the game, the ‘baby pageant’ of the Grand Slam managed to have a record number of candidates in the top 50: 7. Miss Earth and Miss International have 9 each, Miss World has 14, and Miss Universe has 15. It’s one of the most equilibrated years ever;

* Out of the 50, the American continent has the most beauties featured in the list: 20. It’s followed by Europe with 16, Asia with 9, Africa with 3, and Oceania with 2;

* The country which has performed the best so far is Brazil, with four of its 5 Grand Slam beauties present in the ‘Top 50′. Mexico and Spain follow close with 3 each.

* 10 out of the 50 were not even semi-finalists in their respective pageants, which represents a considerable disapproval of the Grand Slam judges’ choices last year.

Who will be Dayana Mendoza’s successor? Next our judges will select the Top 20. Stay tuned!!
